WILLIAMSTOWN, MA — The Williams Men's Track & Field team hosted the Farley Inter-Regional meet on Friday May 9th and Saturday May 10th, competing with grit and focus despite challenging weather conditions. Battling through wind and rain on their home track, the Ephs closed out their regular season with a series of strong performances across events.
On Friday,
Oak Sullivan '27,
Brady Stahelski '27,
Joseph Kouame-Waldman '26, and
Jordan Davis '28 opened the decathlon with strong efforts across the first four events, showcasing a mix of experience and emerging talent. The day began on the track with the 100m, where Sullivan clocked a swift 11.27 seconds, leading the group. Stahelski followed in 11.41, with Kouame-Waldman not far behind at 11.77. Davis rounded out the event in 12.65. In the second event, Sullivan again led the way with a leap of 6.43 meters (21' 1.25"). Stahelski jumped 5.95 meters (19' 6.25"), just ahead of Kouame-Waldman's 5.93 meters (19' 5.50"), while Davis recorded 5.67 meters (18' 7.25").
The Ephs transitioned to the throws, where Davis recorded the best shot put of the group at 10.36 meters (33' 11.75"). Stahelski was next with 9.93 meters (32' 7.00"), followed by Sullivan at 9.78 meters (32' 1.00") and Kouame-Waldman with 9.54 meters (31' 3.50"). The day concluded with the 400m, where Kouame-Waldman ran a solid 55.88 seconds to lead the Ephs. Davis, showing grit through four events, crossed in 1:01.48.
Jordan Davis opened second decathlon day in the high hurdles, navigating the 10-barrier race in 21.64 seconds. In the discus, Davis led the way with a toss of 30.84 meters (101' 2"), followed by Stahelski who threw 28.09 meters (92' 2"). In the pole vault, Davis cleared 3.00 meters (9' 10"), while Stahelski made it over 2.30 meters (7' 6.5"). Stahelski had an impressive showing in javelin, throwing a distance of 55.42 meters. Davis threw a strong mark of 48.89m (160-5.00) in the javelin and closed out the decathlon with grit in the 1500m, finishing in 5:47.75. Davis finished 6th overall in the men's decathlon with a final score of 4,385 points, a strong showing for the first-year Eph.
Kicking off Saturday's events,
Oak Sullivan '28 opened with a strong performance in the 110m hurdles, clocking in at 16.15 seconds. In the 100m dash,
Sheehan Pierre-Louis '28 led the way with an impressive 11.00 seconds, while
Yanni Kakouris '27 followed closely with a collegiate personal best of 11.09 seconds.
Devesh Khamitkar '28 also raced strongly, clocking in at 11.37 seconds.
Tom Emery '27 delivered an outstanding performance in the 1500m, finishing 8th with a time of 3:51.81.
Keiyu Mamiya '28 finished with a time of 3:54.00, while
Blake Biever '26,
Luke Rostan '27, and
Victor Cazabal '25 crossed the line in 4:07.86, 4:16.90, and 4:22.28, respectively.
Jackson Davis '25 led the Ephs in the 400m with a time of 49.94 seconds.
Asa Shepard '27 finished with 51.38 seconds, and
Colin Stone '27 was close behind at 51.71 seconds. In the 800m,
Zachary Liu-Walter '26 placed 9th with a time of 1:51.81. Charles Dybala '28 finished in 1:54.68, while
Henry Reinke '28 posted a time of 1:55.19.
Oscar Newman '25 had a strong 2nd-place finish in the 200m, clocking 21.54 seconds.
Yanni Kakouris '27 achieved a huge personal best of 22.07 seconds, placing 9th.
Jackson Davis '25 finished with 22.42 seconds, while
Colin Stone '27 and
Nathan Corrielus '27 posted times of 23.11 and 23.34 seconds, respectively.
Henry Alexander '27 competed in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing with a time of 9:23.70. In the 5000m,
Emil Nelson '28 and
Malcolm Oakes '28 had strong performances, crossing the line with times of 14:32.51 and 14:32.64, respectively.
Rick Yanashita '26 followed closely in 14:35.77.
Eli Welch '28 (14:50.39), Nikhil Denatale '26 (15:07.07),
Avery Allen '27 (15:09.65),
Rex Bedwick '28 (15:45.55),
Ethan Striff-Cave '27 (15:50.28), and
Jackson McFerron '28 (16:00.94) all contributed to the team's success with competitive times.
Over at pole vault,
Vincent VanMaaren '27 cleared 4.94 meters (16' 2.5") , another consistent showing from the sophomore standout. William Murray '25 took home 1st place in the long jump with a mark of 7.14 meters (23' 5"). First-year
Chris Xue '28 also delivered a strong performance, placing 4th with a jump of 6.86 meters (22' 6"). In the discus throw,
Oak Sullivan '28 contributed with a toss of 34.09 meters (111' 10").
With the regular season now complete, the Ephs turn their attention to the AARTFC Championships, which will be hosted at home on the Lee Track. After a strong showing at the Farley Inter-Regional, the team is poised to carry their momentum into the postseason as they look to sharpen performances and earn qualifying marks ahead of Nationals.
