WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- The Williams College softball team placed four players on the 2025 NFCA All-Region I Teams. The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) recognized standout performances by Sadie Leonard and Sydney Fleming, who were both named to the All-Region I First Team, while Katie Blanch and Aysa DeQuiroz garnered Second and Third Team honors, respectively.
"Sydney and Sadie had seasons for the ages in terms of their performance, statistics, and greatly deserve the first team honors," said Eph head coach Kris Herman. "Of course, they were able to lead our team on the field as well." Leonard was a dominant force in the circle all season long. They posted a 16–4 record, a 1.12 ERA, and 267 strikeouts, breaking their own single-season program record. Fleming delivered one of the best offensive seasons in program history. She led the team with 21 home runs and 52 RBIs, both single-season records, and was among the top hitters in the region.
"Katie backed up a strong frosh season and continued to be one of the best pitchers in the region," Herman noted. "She also contributed at the plate and played multiple positions on defense." An invaluable two-way contributor, Blanch hit .313 with 41 hits, 8 doubles, and 19 RBIs. She also excelled in the circle, with a 2.26 ERA and 63 strikeouts.
"DQ is a fantastic leader on the diamond," Herman said. "She worked around a number of obstacles regarding injuries to have a very impressive season." DeQuiroz was a steady and reliable presence, both offensively and defensively. She hit .374 with 46 hits and 7 doubles, while anchoring the Ephs' infield with her leadership and consistency.
Beyond the numbers, Herman emphasized what united these players: their selflessness and commitment to team success. "All of these players took the approach of doing whatever our team needed them to do," Herman added. "They worked hard and worked for themselves and their teammates." These four all-region selections highlight the depth and leadership that powered the Ephs to another winning season, culminating in an NCAA Tournament appearance.
