Williamstown, MA – The dedication and hard work of the Williams College wrestlers in 2024-25 led to an impressive season filled with outstanding achievements. As a team, the Ephs shone brightly, securing a 4th-place finish at the NCAA Northeast Regional. Given the end of the season, it's time to spotlight the Ephs who earned individual accolades from the NEWA conference for their exceptional performances this year.
Six Williams College wrestlers earned the All NEWA Honorable Mention distinction while two more earned spots on the All-NEWA first team. The Eph's representation at the conference level is a testament to the program's depth of competitive talent. The Ephs boast a formidable lineup, featuring top-level grapplers across all weight classes. Among the eight honorees,
Jamie Evarts and
Peter Kane stood out as this year's regional champions at 184 and 157 pounds, respectively, earning First Team All-NEWA distinctions. Evarts and Kane delivered stellar performances this season, proudly representing the Ephs on the national stage. With both returning next year, the anticipation is high to see them build on their success.
The first-year wrestlers made a remarkable impact this season, embracing the challenging transition to college athletics. Head coach
Scott Honecker praised the promising underclassmen, stating, "With all four of our first-years making a significant contribution, I was pleased to see each of them selected to the All-Rookie team. The future is bright for those guys."
Christopher Colon (125 lbs),
John Schneider (141 lbs),
Fisher Stites (165 lbs), and
Jamie Evarts (184 lbs) earned All-Rookie honors for their impressive debut campaigns.
Beyond their success on the mat, the Ephs also excelled academically, with multiple wrestlers earning All-Academic team honors. Coach Honecker emphasized the team's commitment to excellence both in competition and in the classroom, commenting, "We were well represented in the NEWA All-Academic team, which is no surprise as our guys strive every day to balance their studies and championship wrestling."
