Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Ephs continue rolling with 4-1 win over Trinity

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Williams College men's soccer team continued its run of strong play, beating Trinity College 4-1 at home and improving its record to 4-0-2 and 3-0-1 in NESCAC play.

Four different players were on the scoresheet on Saturday for the Ephs, who took the lead in the 9th minute and never looked back.

"Fantastic job from the team today in the NESCAC home opener on Cole Field," said Head Coach Steffen Siebert. "It was a complete performance today from the team in all moments of the game. Looking forward to next week where we host two NESCAC teams on Cole."

The Ephs jumped out to the early lead after a Trinity foul led to the referee awarding a penalty to Williams. Henry Kirkman stepped up to take the kick and converted to give Williams the lead. Spencer Mix extended the Ephs' lead in the 29th minute as the hosts went into the break with a 2-0 lead.

The second half was more of the same for the Ephs, and in the 71st minute, Griffin Labonski scored his first of the season, with assists going to Andrew Coelho and Zach Greer.

Alex Bethencourt closed the scoring in the 82nd minute for Williams with his second goal in as many games, assisted by Kellan Grace and Mix. Trinity pulled a goal back just over 90 seconds later, but Williams closed the door after that and the game ended 4-1.

Aleix Anglada was strong in goal for the Ephs, making five saves in 81:29 of action, and fellow first-year goalkeeper Henry Fireman made two saves in his debut. Anglada continued his run of good form to start the season, having yet to allow a goal in 306 minutes of play.

The Ephs will host Colby College next Saturday and Bowdoin College next Sunday in a busy weekend of NESCAC action on Cole Field.
