AMHERST, Mass. - The Williams College women's cross country team ran away with the Little Three Championship on Saturday, placing six straight runners across the line inside the top 10 to defeat Amherst and Wesleyan.
The Ephs finished with a team score of 25, ahead of Amherst (35) and Wesleyan (81), helped by the team effort where runners 1-7 all finished within 29 seconds of one another.
Morgan Eigel led the Ephs, placing third overall with a time of 15:09 in the 4-kilometer race. She was nine seconds ahead of Charlene Peng (15:18, 4th), who finished in a pack of Williams' runners that included Tamar Byl-Brann (15:19, 5th), Kate Swann (15:23, 6th), Jordan Liss-Riordan (15:23, 7th), and Kate Tuttle (15:30, 8th).
Fiona Picone rounded out the scoring positions for Williams in 11th overall, just ahead of Ginger Long, who was the top first-year for the Ephs on the day. A total of 20 Ephs finished the race, as the team recaptured the Little Three Championship from Amherst, which won by four points last year.
The Ephs will visit Vassar next weekend in the Ron Stonitsch Invitational before the team's only home race of 2025 on Sept. 20, hosting the Purple Valley Classic at Mount Greylock Regional School in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
