HADLEY, Mass. - After averaging a double-double with 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game during a 2-0 NESCAC weekend, junior forward
Kathleen Smith of the Williams College women's basketball team earned NESCAC Player of the Week laurels from the conference office Monday for the second time during the 2025-26 season.
The Plaistow, New Hampshire, native was named the conference's Player of the Week on Dec. 1 and garnered New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) First Team of the Week honors on Dec. 2. The Ephs (9-7, 3-1 NESCAC) earned two hard-fought NESCAC victories at Chandler Gymnasium, outlasting Tufts, 67-63, in overtime Friday evening and defeating Connecticut College, 55-37, on Saturday afternoon.
"Kathleen had a tremendous weekend for us and helped lead us to two critical NESCAC wins," said head coach
Pat Manning. "She continues to elevate her game on both ends of the floor and has become a vocal leader for our team. I am thrilled with her progress and look forward to further growth as our season progresses."
During the win over the Jumbos, Smith scored a career-high 27 points, shooting 11 of 19 from the field and 5 for 6 from the foul line, to go along with eight rebounds. She recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds, to go along with two blocks, in the victory over the Camels.
Smith has scored in double figures 11 times this season. She is averaging 12.3 points and a team-leading 8.3 rebounds per game, while shooting an efficient 60.7% from the field (82 of 135). The outstanding student-athlete ranks fourth in the NESCAC in rebounds per game.
The Ephs will compete against Amherst Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Chandler Gymnasium.
