Kathleen Smith of the Williams College women's basketball team was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) First Team of the Week for the second time in her collegiate career Tuesday.

The Plaistow, New Hampshire, native is a two-time NESCAC Player of the Week selection during the 2025-26 season, earning the achievement on on Dec. 1 and Jan. 19. She was named to the NEWBA First Team of the Week on Dec. 2 and also earned D3hoops.com Team of the Week honors on Jan. 20.
The Ephs (9-7, 3-1 NESCAC) earned two hard-fought NESCAC victories at Chandler Gymnasium, outlasting Tufts, 67-63, in overtime Friday evening and defeating Connecticut College, 55-37, on Saturday afternoon.
"Kathleen had a tremendous weekend for us and helped lead us to two critical NESCAC wins," said head coach
Pat Manning. "She continues to elevate her game on both ends of the floor and has become a vocal leader for our team. I am thrilled with her progress and look forward to further growth as our season progresses."
During the win over the Jumbos, Smith scored a career-high 27 points, shooting 11 of 19 from the field and 5 for 6 from the foul line, to go along with eight rebounds. She recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds, to go along with two blocks, in the victory over the Camels.
Smith has scored in double figures 11 times this season. She is averaging 12.3 points and a team-leading 8.3 rebounds per game, while shooting an efficient 60.7% from the field (82 of 135). The outstanding student-athlete ranks fourth in the NESCAC in rebounds per game.
During the Morin Memorial Tournament on Nov. 22, she scored 19 points and grabbed a career-best 19 rebounds in a 74-47 championship-game victory over Plattsburgh State on her way to earning the Most Outstanding Player award. She was also named MVP of the Shooting Touch Tournament, as the Ephs won the event at Chandler Gymnasium on Dec. 5-6.
The Ephs will compete against Amherst Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Chandler Gymnasium.
