MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Williams Ephmen began their 2026 championship season with the Middlebury Invitational. This was the last meet of the season for
Benham Cobb and
Coleman Kimmel, who both swam very well. The first day of the meet contested the 200 freestyle relay, all of the 50s, the 200 IM and the 3M diving event.
Â
The opening 200 freestyle relay featured
Colin Kavanagh (22.63), Sam Brozek (21.20),
Mason Green (21.72) and
Theo Randall (21.21).
Bob Frazer had a strong 50 butterfly afterwards, touching first for the Ephs in a 24.06, narrowly missing the 23 second mark.
Ryan Nunez won the 50 backstroke with a quick 24.26.
Coleman Kimmel took gold in the 200 IM with a solid 1:55.63, highlighted by his breaststroke split of 31.20. He was followed by teammate
Harrison Williams who touched in a 1:56.96. Sam Brozek won the 50 freestyle with a 21.60, a solid performance from the first year.
In the 400 medley relay, the A relay of
Colin Kavanagh (55.34),
Kai Batchelor (1:01.22),
Aidan Lee (52.42) and
Kevin Whitworth (47.24) finished the highest for the Ephs with a 3rd place finish.
In his first 1000 of the season,
Ryan Nunez put together an exceptional swim touchdown in a 9:35.42. This places Nunez 3rd in the NESCAC, giving him a seed time for the end of season if he swims it.
On the 3M board,
Haochen Liu competed in his first 11 dive meet of the season due to injury. He had a ridiculous string of dives, culminating in a pool record for the junior. This was an important momentum building performance for Liu as he turns his focus to NESCACs in 3 weeks.
