Mia Thomann and first-year
Ayanna Varma of the No. 20-ranked Williams College women's tennis team won in singles and doubles action, respectively, as the Ephs defeated No. 18 Case Western Reserve, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at Christopher Newport.
Thomann and Varma won by a score of 6-0 at No. 2 doubles for the Ephs (5-1, 2-1 NESCAC), and then first-year
Katelyn Wu and junior
Margaux Molyneux emerged victorious, 7-6 (7-5), during the third position to clinch the one doubles point for Williams over the Spartans (6-3).
The Ephs went 4-2 in singles action, as Thomann (6-3, 6-0), junior
Julia Zhang (6-3, 6-1), Varma (6-3, 6-3) and sophomore
Mia Roets (6-4, 3-6, 10-7) won at the second, third, fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
The Ephs will compete against No. 17 Kenyon Sunday at noon on the campus of Christopher Newport.
