ATLANTA, GA. - The Williams College women's track & field team competed at the Emory Thrills in the Hills this weekend, turning in a strong all-around performance this weekend, highlighted by multiple event wins, personal bests, and two new school records.
Williams dominated the distance events, led by
Kate Tuttle, who captured first place in the 1500m in 4:26.06, setting both a personal best and a new school record. The Ephs showcased impressive depth in the event as
Morgan Eigel placed third in 4:32.22 with a personal best, while
Jordan Liss-Riordan finished fifth (4:38.05) and
Mirembe Mubanda added a 12th-place finish in 4:55.36, also a personal record.
The success continued in the 5000m, where Williams went one-two.
Tamar Byl led the way with a first-place finish in 17:05.22, followed by
Kate Swann in second (17:16.31).
Fiona Picone added a fifth-place finish, while
Hannah Prokup contributed to the team's depth.
In the mid-distances,
Annika Paluska delivered a standout performance, winning the 800m in 2:09.92. Paluska also played a key role on the 4x400 relay team alongside
Ella Sukup,
Claire Jensen, and
Bella King-Harvey, as the squad captured first place in 3:44.26 while setting a new school record.
On the track, Williams saw strong performances in the sprints and hurdles. King-Harvey led the Ephs in the 400 meters with a second-place finish in 55.64, while
Cate Donaldson (7th) and Jensen (8th) added depth.
In the 100 meters, Sukup placed sixth in 12.34. In the 400-meter hurdles,
Alex Eremenko posted a personal-best time of 1:03.48 to finish second, followed by
Olivia LaBelle in fourth.
Williams continued its success in the steeplechase, where
Charlene Peng claimed first place in 10:58.54.
Ginger Long impressed in her collegiate debut in the event with a third-place finish, while
Lily Yampolsky notched a personal best to place fifth and
Ella Kirkwood added a seventh-place finish.
In the field events, the Ephs turned in several strong performances.
Audrey Cheng led the way in the pole vault with a second-place finish and a personal-best clearance of 3.65 meters, while
Ellie Fitzgerald placed fourth.
In the long jump,
Kelsey Tarby took second and
Eliza Ayres finished fifth.
Amelie Jamanka and
Aurora Lewis each cleared 1.58 meters in the high jump to place third and fifth, respectively.
Williams also saw success in the throwing events, as
Maria Fareti placed third in the hammer throw (48.70m) and sixth in the shot put (11.83m).
Becca White recorded a personal best in the javelin with a throw of 28.71 meters.
In the multis,
Mireya King rounded out the weekend with a personal-best score of 3955 points in the heptathlon.
The Ephs return to Massachusetts on April 11
th, as they compete at the UMass Flagship Invitational.
