WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The No. 4-ranked Williams College women's golf team made an outstanding late push during the three-round, 54-hole stroke play 2026 NESCAC Championship, as the Ephs recorded the lowest final round by any team with a score of 298 in a third-place finish out of eight at Taconic Golf Club on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Fifth-ranked Amherst won the conference championship for the third time in program history with a team score of 308-292-301-901, while No. 9 Middlebury was the runner-up with a line of 305-291-306-902. The Ephs finished only two strokes behind the first-place Mammoths, compiling a score of 310-295-298-903.
Mekhala Costello was the medalist for the Mammoths, placing first overall in the individual standings with a three-round total of 219 (75-68-76). Leading the way for Williams was sophomore
Michelle Ding, as she finished fourth with a three-day mark of 224 (78-71-75). During her 71 performance in Round 2, she tallied four birdies.
Senior
Euna Lee finished in a tie for fifth in the individual standings, recording a 78-72-75-225 performance, as she finished with seven birdies during the tournament. Junior
Natalie Cheong was the third-place finisher for Williams, finishing seventh overall with a score of 79-77-70-226, as the final-round effort was the best single-round performance by any Eph during the three-day event.
First-year
Zoe Wynn (75-75-78-228) finished in a tie for 10th, while junior
Maryanne Grace scored an 80-81-78-239.
The Ephs lead the NESCAC with six all-time conference championships. Williams will await to hear its NCAA fate and hopes to earn an at-large bid onto the national stage at the Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, California, on May 19-22.
