WILLIAMSTOWN, MA. — The Williams women's track & field celebrated Senior Day with a strong weekend performance at the annual F.I.R.E. Meet, hosted at Lee Track.
The two-day meet, which began Friday with the heptathlon competition, honored legendary former Williams Head Coach
Dick Farley and was the Ephs' final home meet of the outdoor season.
The decathlon opened competition on Friday, where
Desmond Snyder placed fifth overall with a personal-best total of 5,424 points. Snyder delivered a strong two-day performance, setting seven personal records across the event, including the 100m (11.50), 110m hurdles (17.60), long jump (6.10m), high jump (1.60m), discus throw (23.20m), pole vault (3.70m), and 1500m (4:48.65).
Zachary Liu-Walter led the way on the track with a first-place finish in the 800m, crossing the line in 1:51.23.
Williams also saw another impressive performance from
Keiyu Mamiya, who placed seventh in a competitive 1500m field with a time of 3:50.17, while
Henry Alexander finished fourth in the steeplechase in 9:13.63.
A pair of first-years paced the Ephs in the 5,000m, as
TJ Zwall placed 11th in 14:37.89 and
Liam O'Connor followed in 14th with a time of 14:45.08.
On the sprint side,
Yanni Kakouris turned in a ninth-place finish in the 200m (22.24), while
Noah Stegmeier added a sixth-place showing in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.15.
In the field events, VanMaaren cleared 4.87 meters (15' 11.75") to claim the pole vault title and continue his strong outdoor campaign. In the throwing events,
Jordan Davis placed ninth in the javelin with a mark of 46.23 meters (151' 8").
The Ephs will return to competition this week at the AARTFC Outdoor Championships and the MIT Final Qualifier as they continue preparations for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships beginning May 21.
