LEXINGTON, Ky. — The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its 2026 Team Academic Awards today, which included the Williams volleyball squad among the teams on its honor roll for its excellent work in the classroom during the 2025-26 season.

In order to earn the Team Academic honor, institutions needed to maintain at least a 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale or a 4.1 GPA on a 5.0 scale during the 2025-26 academic year. The honor roll classification celebrates programs in the top 20 percent of GPAs for their respective divisions.

"I am so proud of our team for earning this academic recognition from the AVCA," said head coach Christi Kelsey. "It really is a reflection of just how much these student-athletes are dedicated to their academic experience and the hard work they put into the opportunities they have in the classroom! I am constantly inspired by their dedication to learning and growing both on and off the court."

The Ephs have earned the prestigious Team Academic honor 20 times, including each of the past 12 years, and 15 times since Kelsey took over as head coach in 2009-10. This is also the fifth time Williams has made the honor roll (2019, 2021, 2024, 2025 and 2026) since it was established in 2017.

Williams finished the 2005 season with a 19-8 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 16th time in program history.
