SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – Brandon Jackmuff netted two goals,
contributed two assists and goalie Marc Pulde turned aside 33 shots
as the Ephs downed Skidmore 7-3.
The Ephs racked up 36 penalty minutes, but converted on three of
nine power play opportunities to improve to 4-5-1 on the year.
Skidmore is now 3-6-2.
"It's a nice way to start the weekend with a big game tomorrow at
Castleton," said Eph head coach Bill Kangas. The Ephs play at
Castleton State Saturday at 4:00 pm.
Jackmuff got the Ephs in the board first with a goal off a feed
from Steve Bruch just 24 seconds in, but Skidmore answered at
17:55. Greg Schultz netted a goal off a setup by Alex Smigelski
just 14 seconds after the Skidmore goal and the Ephs led 2-1 at the
first intermission.
Just over 4 minutes into the second period Skidmore tied the game
on a power play, only to see the Ephs respond with a power play
goal of their own by Owen Holm. The Holm tally was assisted by
Jackmuff and Schultz.
The Ephs took a 4-2 lead when Matt Masucci scored off an assist by
Justin Guttek at 14:45 of the period, benefiting from another power
play situation.
The Ephs took a 4-2 lead into the second intermission.
Smigelski made it 5-2 in the third off of passes by Jackmuff and
Ryan Young, before Skidmore scored their final goal of the
game.
Jackmuff and Young then closed out the scoring. Holm and Brian
Malchoff were credited with assists on the Jackmuff tally, while
Young's goal was a short-handed, unassisted score.
Marc Pulde improved to 3-3-1 on theyear by stopping 11 Skidmore
shots in each period. Skidmore's Ted Levine stopped 32 of 39 Eph
attempts.
