WILKES-BARRE, PA - It took all ten wrestlers today for the 27th
ranked Wilke Colonels (15-5-1) to top the Ephs (9-7), 18-15.
Tri-Captain Ethan Cohen '09 started the Ephs off with an 8-3
decision over Shaun Farnham. Cohen responded after losing to
Farnham earlier this year at the RIT Invitational. Freshmen
Corey Paulish kept the Ephs rolling with an 8-2 win over Josh
Pauling. The Ephs would win 4 of the first 5 matches jumping
out to 12-3 lead.
At 174, James McCarthy '11 got a huge 6-0 shutout over Joshua
Lamb to give the Ephs a 15-6 lead. However, Wilkes rallied back
winning the final three matches, including a pin in the final bout,
to get the three point victory.
"We knew it would be a tight match coming in. We lost some
tough matches, but I thought the team wrestled really well," said
Coach Dan DiCenzo. "Wilkes is good team. I think as 27th in
the country, they're probably underrated right now."
The Ephs next match will be a quad-meet at Roger Williams
University on February 2 at noon. This maeet was originally slated
to be h eld at WPI, but has been moved.
