Box Score
HARTFORD, CT. — Three goals in the first
half lead No. 17 Trinity (4-4, 3-2 NESCAC) past the Ephs (2-5, 1-4
NESCAC) Sunday afternoon at Robin Sheppard Field improving to a 3-2
record in NESCAC. Despite numerous shot attempts led by
Meera
Sivalingam (Philadelphia, Penn.) and nearly twice as many
penalty corner opportunities, the Ephs second half efforts were not
enough to overcome Trinity. Bantam senior co-captains, Robyn
Williams and Christy Bradly, tag-teamed converting three shot
attempts into goals in the first frame leading Trinity to their 3-0
shutout over the Ephs.
Trinity's intensity in the first half began with an aggressive
offensive line in the opening minutes and throughout the frame
where the Bantams ultimately tallied 9 shot attempts over the 4
taken by Williams. 16:51 into the first, Trinity's game
winning goal was scored by Robyn Williams unassisted. Just
over ten minutes later, Bradly built on the Bantam's lead off an
assist by Hadley Duncan at 28:52. A shot found the back of
the net less than a minute later when Bradley and Williams
worked together to convert a play into a goal and assist,
respectively, raising Trinity's advantage to 3-0. The Bantams
had a 3-2 penalty corner edge for the period.
In response to Trinity's first period performance, the Ephs were
spurred into action in the second frame noticeably picking up their
overall offensive intensity. Though Williams struggled to
convert offensive opportunities into goals, they outshot the
Bantams 6-2 while creating 7 penalty corners over Trinity's 1.
Sivalingam tallied 5 of the Ephs' 11 total shots for the afternoon,
while Nicolle
Perry (Yorktown, NY), Margie Fulton
(Wellesley, Mass.), and Ariel Lyddane
(Greenwich, Conn.) each contributed as well. Despite
Williams' strong retort in the second, Trinity maintained their 3
point lead upon the match's conclusion clinching their 3-0 shutout
victory.
Eph tri-captain Katrina Tulla (New
Canaan, Conn.) and Bantam goalie Gina Dinallo each spent the full
70 minutes in the cage. Tulla had 3 saves and 3 goals allowed
while Dinallo tallied 7 saves and no goals allowed.
Williams will play at Bates this Saturday at 11AM.
