Williams Women's golf trails Amherst by nine strokes

Hadley, MA—The Ephs travelled to Amherst's backyard to play in the Jack Leaman Invitational, played at Hickory Ridge Golf Club. After the first day of play, the Williams women's golf team trails Amherst by nine strokes, the first time the team has not had the lead (or tied for) going into Sunday this year.

The Ephs were led by junior Tracey Kim who shot a four-over 76, which puts her tied for the individual lead with Amherst freshman Kate Weiss and junior Jamie Gracie.

"My ball striking has been solid this past week, I was just trying to stay focused and make sure I was in a position to par every hole," Kim said. "Our team had rough first day but everyone is feeling motivated and ready to make tomorrow our best round of the year."

Rounding up the Eph lineup was freshman Isabella Wang at 82, sophomore Liz Gudas at 83, junior Sophie Kitchen at 85, and freshman Cordelia Chan at 90. Sophomore Madeline Abrahams, playing as an individual, shot 88.

"What I love about our team is our ability to reflect, not dwell on a rough scoring day," head coach Bill Kangas said. "We are more excited about the great team opportunity ahead of us tomorrow."

The Ephs will tee off tomorrow at 12pm.
