Sophomore Middle Hitter Marit Hoyem Earns Second Team All-NESCAC Honors

HADLEY, MASS. – Williams sophomore middle hitter Marit Hoyem (Menlo Park, Calif.) was named to the All-NESCAC Volleyball Second Team in a vote by the conference coaches.

This is Hoyem's first All-NESCAC post-season honor. Hoyem tied for the Eph team lead in matches started with 19 and was second on the squad in sets played with 69. She led the Ephs in points with 242.5, in kills with 173, and she also led the Ephs in service aces with 29.

"Marit had a tremendous sophomore season," stated Eph head coach Christi Kelsey. "We are really proud of how she has grown as a player in her first full, competitive collegiate experience. She posted some impressive numbers both offensively and defensively this year and was one of many great players and pieces that stepped up for our team this year to help create a really special 2021 season and our return to the court. Marit is deserving of this honor and it also is awesome recognition for our entire volleyball family as these awards are not earned alone. Just speaks to the great team we had this season and their overall performance together!"

In addition, Hoyem was second in NESCAC in blocks with 19 solos and 43 block assists,  7th in NESCAC in hitting percentage .326 and eighth in points for a Williams team that posted an overall record of  13-7.
