Middlebury, VT – The Ephs traveled to Vermont to take on NESCAC rivals Middlebury. With a reconfigured lineup the Ephs were hungry and ready to step up and defend their higher rank. First up for the Ephs was
Cameron Darnell (#3),
Jack Lee (#5), and
Nilay Neelaveni. On the top court, Darnell put in a great performance and outclassed his opponent winning by a 3-0 score line. Similarly,
Jack Lee played some great squash to take his match 3-0 as well. Playing in the starting lineup for the first time this season, Neelaveni started slow but found his footing eventually and battled to tight scores in games 2 and 3 before falling by a 3-0 score line.
With the match sitting at 2-1, the next round of play featured Will Evans (#2),
Pierce Henderson (#6), and Chas Merrill (#8). All three players played brilliantly and were able to win by 3-0 score lines putting the match at 5-1 for the Ephs.
In the last wave of matches, on court for the Ephs were
Udai Pal (#1),
Andrew Minnis (#4), and
Andrew Lee (#8). On the top court, Pal fell by a tight 3-1 score line. After dropping the first, Minnis battled back and played brilliantly to take the next three games and win 3-1. Lee played a tight match with some close games but eventually fell 3-1 to put the final score at 6-3 for the Ephs.
The team is looking forward to training hard for a couple of days before taking on NESCAC rival Amherst on Friday at home at the Simon Squash Center.
