Destin, FL -- Williams Women's Golf sits in fourth place after round two of the Golfweek October Classic at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. After shooting 301 (+13) the Ephs are 21 shots back of the leading team, Emory University who bested the field today in the 15-20 mph gusts. The Ephs look to make a big charge up the leaderboard to end the fall season on a high note.
First year Michelle Ding led the team with a 73 (+1), highlighted by 16 pars.
Ding comments, "Today's round went well and I'm excited for tomorrow! Today was a lot of pars and I'm hoping for the same tomorrow."
Sophomore Natalie Cheong came back strong after a rocky start to shoot 75 (+3). Sophomore Maryanne Grace also fired a 75 (+3), highlighted by two birdies. Senior Captain Gio Kim shot 78 (+6) and Junior Euna Lee shot 79 (+7).
Assistant Coach Bill Kangas notes, "I thought we played solid golf today. While our scorecards were varied, Michelle was consistent and outstanding, carding a team best +1 (73), going -1 on her last 14 holes. Natalie finished her final 13 holes at -2 (75) and Maryanne joined her at 75. While we have a lot of strokes to make up, I know the team will be excited for tomorrow's final round, trying to cap off our fall season with the Golfweek Invitational best third day team score."
