Ephs earn second place at Middlebury, Yee finishes third overall

Petra Yee was the top Williams finisher at 3rd overall.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Williams catapulted up the standings on Sunday at the George Phinney Golf Classic hosted by Middlebury, passing three schools to finish in second in the 12-team tournament.

First-year Petra Yee enjoyed the strongest performance on the Williams team, shooting 13-over for the tournament, good for third overall in the 68-player field.

The Ephs were +37 after the first day at Ralph Myhre Golf Club, sitting in fifth place, but a stronger Sunday performance at +24 led Williams past Middlebury, Wellesley, and Hamilton into second place. Amherst was able to hold off the Ephs to win the tournament.

"This was a tough weekend," said Head Coach Tomas Adalsteinsson. "The Ralph Myhre really tested us as we constantly battled for pars and bogeys. We made an honest run at it, and I'm proud of the team getting second place."

Euna Lee had a typically strong performance, finishing tied for 8th overall, and first-year Zoe Wynn ended in a tie for fourth place, playing as an independent.

The Ephs will play their first home tournament of 2025-26 next weekend for the Williams Invite at Taconic Golf Club, which will also be the host of the 2026 NESCAC Championship in the spring.
