Jekyll Island, GA --Â Day 2 of the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate, hosted by Oglethorpe College, brought about much better conditions and play for the Ephs. The women's golf team shot a 296, +8, marking a 19 shot improvement from the previous day. They currently sit in second place, one shot behind fellow Massachusetts school Wellesley College. On the individual side, Becky Williams of DePauw University and Eph sophomore
Euna Lee lead, shooting a total of 149, +5 over two days.Â
Lee led the team lineup with a solid round, carding 3 birdies and only 2 bogeys for a 71, -1. Following Lee was first-year Emma Abramson with a 72, Abramson carded 3 birdies on her front nine, shooting 2-under before making the turn. First-year Natalie Cheong was next with a 76, +4, and junior Gio Kim and first-year Maryanne Grace came in close behind with a pair of 77s, +5. On the individual side, senior Tianyi Zhuang fired a 74, +2, with three birdies on her card. Sophomore Victoria Kim followed with two birdies for a total of 77, +5. Rounding out the team was senior Aishvarya Bedi, shooting an 80, +8, and finishing her round with two birdies.Â
Bedi commented, "The course was a lot more approachable today given the better conditions, and the team really took advantage of that. We felt and played more like ourselves this round, and while there were still some shots we could pick up, we are proud of our comeback from the day prior."Â
Eph head coach Tomas Adalsteinsson added, "Our players did a good job picking smart targets and being aggressive to those targets. We still left some shots out there, so we look forward to finishing strong tomorrow."
