Women’s Golf Places 4 on All-NESCAC First Team and Sweeps Top Honors

WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. – Tomas Adalsteinsson's Williams team that won the 2024 NESCAC championship and will begin play in the NCAA DIII Championship Tournament at The Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky on May 21 has had a spectacular spring season.

Williams won the NESCAC title by 32 strokes (289-303-592) at Taconic Golf Club, their home course. Eph junior Gio Kim was the tournament's medalist with a two-round total of 144 after firing a tournament record low of 69 on the first day and finishing with a 75 in the rain on Day 2.

Gio Kim was named the 2024 NESCAC Player of the Year and to the All-NESCAC First Team and in 2023 she earned Second Team Honors. Joining Gio Kim on the First Team are First Year Emma Abramson, Sophomore Euna Lee and Sophomore Victoria Kim. Abaramson was named the 2024 NESCAC Rookie of the Year.

Eph head coach Tomas Adalsteinsson was named the NESCAC Coach of the Year for the second time in his career.

"Our team has played great this year," noted Adalsteinsson. "We won six tournaments, including reclaiming the NESCAC Championship title, and we finished the regular season with the lowest adjusted scoring average in our program history. Our team has been putting in great work on and off the golf course, and we are excited to have another opportunity to represent Williams at the NCAA DIII Women's Golf National Championship. It's a great honor and a well-deserved opportunity."

"Victoria Kim has played solid golf this year, often finding a way to post a score for the team, even when she hasn't been hitting the ball as well as she knows she can," commented Adalsteinsson. She had a strong third place finish at the NESCAC Championship."

"Euna Lee had an excellent fall season placing first at both the Williams Invitational and the NESCAC Fall Qualifier," Adalsteinsson said. "She added another under par round to her resume at the Jekyll Invitational this spring. She has been a very reliable player for us with five top-10 finishes." In 2023 Lee was a Second Team honoree and the Rooke of the Year.

"Emma Abramson started to settle in to college golf towards the end of the fall season," noted Adalsteinsson. "She has had a stellar spring season finishing first at the Jekyll Invitational and second at the NESCAC Championship. Finishing top-5 in four out of the last five tournament is an exceptional rookie season."

"Gio Kim has been a player of big moments for us," stated Adalsteinsson. "She shot under par in three different events, Williams Invitational, NESCAC Fall Qualifier, and the NESCAC Championship. Her low round helped the team win all three events. She placed first individually at the NESCAC Championship, and was the only NESCAC player to go under par at both NESCAC events. Additionally, she finished top-10 in all but two events this year, an impressive accomplishment."

"We always wish more of our players could be recognized as they all deserve it," added Adalsteinsson. "Our players are so skilled and challenge each other to do better every day we get together on the golf course. I am beyond proud of them all."
