WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- Williams Women's Golf team is in stellar position after day one of the NESCAC Championships, hosted at our very own Taconic Golf Club. After a round in one of the season's best weather conditions, the Ephs sit in first, 22 strokes ahead of Hamilton College. Shooting a 289, +5, the team beat their course record at Taconic by two strokes. On the individual side, junior
Gio Kim led the day with a phenomenal 69, -2.
G. Kim ended her round with back-to-back birdies on 17 and 18, as well as a birdie on the par-5 1st, now being played as the third hole due to pending course renovations. Following G. Kim was first-year

Tianyi Zhuang, shooting a pair of 73s, +2. Both teammates carded three birdies on their respective cards, with Zhuang having back-to-back birdies on 4 and 5 (now being played as holes 6 and 7). Sophomore
Victoria Kim also came in strong with a 74, +3, starting her round at -2 through 4 holes. Rounding out the team lineup was sophomore
Euna Lee, shooting a 78, +7.
Co-captain G. Kim comments, "Super good performance by everyone on the team. The overall vibes were very good and our scores showed it!"

Tomas Adalsteinsson adds, "I'm proud of how the team played today. We prepared well the past two weeks, and while we saw some great shots, our players also did a great job managing their misses. After a good night sleep, we look forward to get back out there tomorrow and finish up the championship."
