No. 17 Ephs host Vassar in NCAA First Round Wednesday

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The No. 17-ranked Williams College field hockey team has qualified with an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament for the fourth consecutive season, as the Ephs will host Vassar Wednesday at 6 p.m. on Williamson Field.

Tickets for the game can be purchased in advance here.

The Ephs (8-8, 6-4 NESCAC) defeated three ranked opponents on the road this season, including No. 2 Tufts, 3-1, on Sept. 6, No. 7 Hamilton, 4-3, on Oct. 22 and No. 11 Amherst, 2-0, on Sept. 13. Williams hosted NCAA first round games in 2022 and 2023, while the 2024 team earned a first-round bye and hosted second and third-round action. The 2022 and 2024 squads advanced all the way to the NCAA Final Four.

The 2025 team is led by senior captain Kiki Higgins, who leads the unit in goals (12), assists (5) and points (29). She ranks second in the NESCAC in goals and points. On Oct. 27, Higgins was named NESCAC Player of the Week, and two days later, she was honored with National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Offensive Player of the Week laurels.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ellie Smith has recorded five shutouts, while senior captain Pilar Torres has tallied four goals, four assists and 12 points. Junior Claire Colvin registered six goals, three assists, 15 points and three game-winning tallies in nine games.

The Brewers (13-6, 5-2 Liberty League) earned an automatic bid into the national tournament, winning their first conference title since 2021. Zoe Robinson (13 goals, 1 assist), Karina Hoffman (10 goals, 5 assists) and Sofia Beseth (7 goals, 4 assists) have led Vassar's offense this season.
