WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - After averaging 16.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 12 of 18 from the field, during a 2-0 week for the Williams College women's basketball team, junior forward
Kathleen Smith was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) First Team of the Week Tuesday.

Pat Manning. "She is playing at a consistently high level on both ends of the courts. She is an extremely hard worker and has put the time in to grow her game. I am very happy to see her efforts pay off and contribute to our team's success."
This marks the first weekly NEWBA honor of Smith's collegiate career. During a 53-46 triumph over Wesleyan Sunday afternoon in Chandler Gymnasium, the Plaistow, New Hampshire, native recorded a double-double with a team-leading 17 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. She posted 15 points and eight rebounds, to go along with shooting 7 for 10 from the field, in a 64-57 triumph against Springfield Tuesday in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
Earlier this season, Smith was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Morin Memorial Tournament. She registered a double-double with career highs of 19 points and 19 rebounds, while shooting 7 for 11 from the field, during a 74-47 win over visiting Plattsburgh State in the championship game on Nov. 22.
Smith is averaging 12.7 points and 9.7 rebounds for the Ephs (4-2) during the 2025-26 season, while shooting 66.7% from the field (28 for 42). She ranks in a tie for second in the NESCAC in total rebounds (58) and rebounds per game.
The Ephs, who have won four consecutive games, will compete at No. 4-ranked Smith Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Northampton, Massachusetts.
