SOUTH HADLEY, MA -- The Williams Women's Golf team finished in third place shooting at 309 (+21) at The Orchards Golf Club. Round one was canceled due to snowy and unplayable conditions, making this tournament a one day shootout. Chilly temperatures and wet fairways made for tough scoring conditions.
Natalie Cheong '27 led the team shooting an impressive 74 (+2). Cheong's confident swinging and tight approach shots were her keys to success.
Cheong comments, "Some harsh conditions today with the wind and the cold weather but glad to have powered through and to see my teammates do the same. Had a couple of good shots here and there and a great eagle putt. That's all you can ask for! Pumped for next week with our home invite!"
Just one shot behind Cheong was Victoria Kim '26 who fired a 75 (+3), highlighted by three birdies. Closely behind was Euna Lee '26 who shot 76 (+4), highlighted by two birdies, and Michelle Ding '28 who put together a 77 (+5). Rounding out the lineup was Maryanne Grace '27 who shot 82 (+10) and Emma Abramson '27 who shot 84 (+12).
Eph head coach Tomas Adalsteinsson remarks, "It was good to get started with tournament golf in the northeast. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate yesterday and left us with a one-day tournament today. We hit a lot of good shots, but also saw some inconsistency on the greens. We have room for improvement going into our home spring event next weekend. We will use the week to get ready!"
