WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - After earning three Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) All-American First Team selections and one Second Team nod during his brilliant four-year collegiate career,
Owen Maier '25 of the Williams College men's crew team was named one of three Division III finalists for the inaugural edition of The Oarsman award.

Maier, who served as a senior captain during the 2024-25 season, was an instant contributor from the first day he stepped on campus. The Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, native was named to the NESCAC All-Conference First Team in 2022, 2023 and 2024, while taking home Empacher Bootswerft-IRCA Scholar-Athlete honors in three consecutive years from 2023-25.
Maier was a crucial component of the Ephs' boats that earned gold medals during the first varsity eight races at the 2022 and 2023 IRA national championships. He was also a pivotal member of the Williams' first varsity eight unit that was the runner-up during the 2024 national championship.
"Owen has rowed in our first boat each of his four years with our program," said head coach
Marc Mandel. "Outside of Williams, he raced in the US U23 M4x in the summer of 2021 and attended the U23 M4x selection camp in 2022 and 2023. Owen was a captain this year and led the team with humility and a down-to-earth attitude. In addition to his athletic accomplishments, he is an accomplished cellist and was a member of the Cello Shots at Williams."
The IRCA will announce its winner for the Division III level, along with the lightweight and heavyweight divisions, on Friday, July 11. You can learn all about the requirements to earn this honor
