WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The past few seasons for the Williams College men's soccer program have been full of highlights and the future looks incredibly bright for the program.

"This season is going to be fun and exciting," said Mohamed Keussom '26. "We have talented student-athletes across all classes, but what stands out most is the bond we are building and the chemistry that comes with it. This is the kind of team people will want to watch every single game."

The Ephs embarked on a tremendous late-season run in 2022, hosting quarterfinal, semifinal and final rounds of the NESCAC Tournament on Cole Field and advancing all the way to the NCAA Division III championship game with a 4-1-1 record on the national stage. The 2024 team hosted an NCAA Regional, featuring first and second-round games, and reached the Sweet 16.

Last season, the unit also posted a signature victory against then-No. 1-ranked Amherst, 1-0, on Sept. 14, marking the first time the Ephs defeated the Mammoths on Cole Field since 2005. The group also earned wins against No. 14 Cortland, 1-0, on Oct. 6 at Cole Field and No. 15 Bowdoin, 1-0, on Sept. 29 in Brunswick, Maine.

"We could not be more excited for what is to come for men's soccer this fall," said fourth-year head coach Steffen Siebert. "Last season was a spectacular year, one of the best in our program's recent history. Hosting the NCAA Regional on Cole Field and finishing in the top 10 were great achievements, but another exciting journey starts on Sept. 2. We graduated some phenomenal leaders so the bar is high, but we are thrilled to see this group already beginning to fill those shoes."

The 2025 roster features returners in David Armini '26, Sam Gibson '26, Henry Kirkman '26, Evan Vasquez '26, Keussom, Griffin Labonski '27, Atticus Ross '27, Jeff Stauffer '27, Andrew Coelho '27, Spencer Mix '27, Leon Ma '27, Kellan Grace '27, Kai Darrell '28, Ben Brown '28, Lorcan Mitchell '28, Luca Ruta '28, Chase Caires '28, Alex Bethencourt '28 and Ali Coleman '28. The newcomers include Henry Fireman '29, Jake Farmer '29, JJ Ruehlemann '29, Faris Bali '29, Kai Desmangles '29, Zach Greer '29 and Aleix Anglada '29. Assistant Coach Bill Schmid enters his fourth year on the sidelines for the program.

"We are excited about our incoming first-year class," said Siebert. "We have brought in a talented class around the country and world. Our roster has a great mix of seasoned upperclassmen and eager underclassmen, which is a recipe for success."

At the conclusion of the 2024 season, Labonski was named to the United Soccer Coaches (USC) NCAA Division III All-Region I Third Team, while also garnering NESCAC All-Conference Second Team laurels. Labonski, Gibson, Grace, Mix and Ross took home College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, while the program also excelled in the classroom, earning the 2024-25 USC College Team Academic award.

The 2025 journey starts on Tuesday, Sept. 2, with a 4 p.m. non-conference game against Wheaton (Mass.) on Cole Field. The Ephs, who were ranked No. 10 in the USC Top-25 Preseason Poll on July 31, will compete in a total of 15 regular-season games, including 10 NESCAC matchups and nine home events.

"As always, we will be ready to battle as we take on one of the toughest schedules in the country," said Siebert. "We purposefully scheduled a great group of out-of-conference games in addition to our always competitive NESCAC schedule. Last year, eight NESCAC teams made the NCAA tournament, so anything can happen this fall. We are excited to see students, fans and family come down to Cole Field soon."

Williams begins NESCAC competition with a 3 p.m. matchup at Tufts on Saturday, Sept. 6, in Medford, Massachusetts. The Ephs will travel to Little Three-rival Amherst for a 2:30 p.m. start on Saturday, Sept. 13, and then hosts Wesleyan at noon on Saturday, Oct. 11, in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

"We are excited to get the season started against Wheaton on Sept. 2," said Gibson. "This is the sharpest I have seen a Williams' team look this early in the season. It has been special to watch. We have a host of young talent and had a super productive preseason. I feel confident that we can have a successful season if we execute properly."
