WINDSOR, Ct. - The Williams College men's golf team returned to competition on Saturday and Sunday at the Trinity Bantams / Hartford Hawks Spring Invitational at Keney Park Golf Course in Windsor, Ct., finishing sixth in a field full of regional competitors within Division III.
Ephs sophomore Jack Estrella was the top finisher on the team and tied for third overall in the field of 78 competitors, ending at 2-under-par, shooting an excellent 1-under on each day. The overall winner was Hank Kancher from Hofstra, with Ramon Aroca from Hamilton in second, and Estrella tied for third with Henry Mariscal of Bowdoin.
Division I Hofstra won the tournament, followed by a strong showing from Bowdoin as the first D3 finisher, and Trinity used the home-course advantage to put a pair of teams in the top five as the teams battled difficult conditions on the second day.
The rest of the Ephs' squad for the tournament consisted of Alex Moller, Nick Smith, Hunter Justice and Owen Barber, as Williams featured one of the youngest teams in the tournament, with two first-years, two sophomores, and a junior competing.
The Ephs will be in action throughout April, starting next weekend when the team participates in Skidmore's Tom Brown Invitational.
