Box Score 2 TUCSON, AZ. -- The Williams College baseball team dropped a pair of games Saturday, losing 7-4 to Bethel University and dropping a 9-2 decision to conference rival Colby.
The Ephs are now 1-7, having lost seven straight contests. They are off Sunday and will resume action Monday against Gustavus Adolphus and Westminster.
In the Bethel game, Jack Cloud gave the Ephs a 1-0 lead with an RBI-double in the second inning. But Bethel responded with a one in the third and two in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead and broke it open with a three-run eighth inning to make it 7-1.
Williams rallied with three in the ninth as David Kwan had a sacrifice fly and Adam Regensburg smacked a two-run triple with two outs.
The Ephs had 11 hits in the loss. Adam Dulsky went 3 for 4 with two runs scored. Regensburg was 2 for 4 with two RBI. Senior Dan Smith got the start and the loss for the Ephs going 3 1/3 innings and allowing three hits, two runs, one earned, while walking three and striking out two.
For a long time the Colby game was a pitcher's duel between Colby's Soren Hanson and Eph senior Luke Rodino, but the Mules scored three times in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead and Hanson held Williams off the scoreboard through eight innings.
The Ephs scored twice in the ninth when Nathan Michalski lined an RBI-single and Adam Panstares hit into a double play. They finished with seven hits. Beau Horan was 2 for 3 and Michalski finished 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Rodino took the loss, going eight innings and allowing 13 hits while walking one and striking out four. He was charged with five runs, all earned.
