Jackson Parese '17 from Eph Sports Info and Baseball to JD Candidate at Villanova Law School

Current Job Title:  JD Candidate at Villanova Law School

Williams graduation year:  2017

Sport(s) played at Williams:  Baseball

Degree you earned at Williams:  History

How you got involved in Eph Sports Information:  My friends and teammates Danny Smith '16, Beau Horan '16, and Luke Rodino '17 were looking for extra hands to fill the role of departed seniors on the stat crew for both basketball and football. I couldn't think of a better on-campus job and jumped at the opportunity. I'm a Williamstown native and was an avid follower of Williams athletics from a young age. It wasn't out of the ordinary to spend fall weekends watching football at Weston Field and winter evenings watching basketball in Chandler - getting paid to do both was a welcome bonus!

What were your duties in Eph Sports Information:  I tracked tackles for the football stat crew and participated in a rotating set of duties for basketball, including dictating, writing, and entering live stats. It was an engaging and challenging environment because the work was so fast-paced. We were also lucky to have a great boss in Kris Dufour, who helped keep us up to speed on all things stat related and was always patient with us when things didn't go according to plan.

Favorite Eph Sports Information memory:  Ryan Kilcullen's game-winning three against Amherst in 2015 tops my list of memories. The gym went bananas, and the raucous student section stormed the court. It wasn't easy to stay focused on keeping stats for the few remaining seconds with students and other fans celebrating around us, but I'm pretty sure we were able to keep on top of the one Amherst missed shot that followed. Watching nail-biters like that reminded me of some of my fondest childhood memories following the 2003 Eph national championship team on their road to the Final Four.

Fun Fact:  Jackson's father Stan got tickets to a Yankees game in New York for Jackson's birthday and when a friend of Stan's could not use his tickets up on top of The Green Monster in Fenway Park that same night, the Pareses took the NY-Boston shuttle and watched the Red Sox play. During the Red Sox game NESN's Tom Caron went up on The Green Monster to interview some folks and Jackson got interviewed. A few years later Tom Caron came to Williams to do the Williams – Amherst football play-by-play on NESN and we had Tom interview Jackson a second time on the air before the game began.
