BOSTON, MA — The Williams Women's Track and Field team delivered an impressive performance at the 2025 John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University on Friday. Competing in an elite field that included teams from across all NCAA divisions — such as Stanford, Connecticut College, MIT, and Boston College — the Ephs had a standout day, highlighted by a new school record in the 400m, numerous personal bests, and multiple DIII New England qualifying marks.
The Ephs were successful in the sprinting events throughout the day. The day's competition kicked off with the 60m hurdles, where
Olivia LaBelle '28 placed 22nd with a time of 9.53 seconds, securing a DIII New England qualifying mark.
Livi Mazerolle '26 followed in 27th place, finishing in 10.13 seconds. In the 60m dash,
Maggie Nichols '28 led the Ephs with a time of 8.13 seconds, earning 15th place.
Ella Sukup '26 and
Malia Klein '25 also competed in the 60m dash, with Sukup finishing in 8.18 seconds for 19th place and Klein setting a seasonal best of 8.19 seconds for 22nd. One highlight of the sprinting events came in the 400m, where
Bella King-Harvey '27 broke the Williams school record. Competing in the invitational section, King-Harvey ran an outstanding 55.75 seconds, placing 10th overall. Her time marks a personal best and currently ranks third in NCAA DIII this season.
Claire Jensen '27 competed in the open 400m, finishing in 59.45 seconds. Both Ephs met DIII New England qualifying standards for the 400m. The Ephs continued their success in the 200m dash, with
Ella Sukup '26 setting a new personal best of 25.65 seconds for 15th place.
Maggie Nichols '28 followed with a personal best of 25.94 seconds, finishing 30th. Both Ephs hit DIII New Englands qualifying marks in this event.
The Ephs had a strong showing in the mid-distance and distance events, too.
Annika Paluska '28, the school record-holder in the 600m, ran a personal-best 2:11.52 in the 800m, placing 38th and moving up to 2nd on the Williams All-Time Performance List while qualifying for DIII New Englands. In the 1000m,
Lily Yampolsky '28 clocked a personal-best 2:55.15, earning the #6 spot on the Williams All-Time Performance List and a DIII New England qualifying time. Next, in the mile,
Blakeley Buckingham '25 and
Charlene Peng '27 represented Williams. Buckingham finished the race in 5:02.90, followed by Peng in a personal best of 5:11.27. Both Ephs qualified for DIII New Englands in the mile. In the final race of the day, the 3000m,
Kate Tuttle '28 lead the Ephs with a stellar 9:47.31 — a new personal best that ranks 4th on the Williams All-Time Performance List.
Morgan Eigel '27 (9:57.25) and
Jordan Liss-Riordan '27 (10:04.61) also achieved personal bests, with all three 3000m runners securing DIII New England qualifying marks.
This year's John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University was a strong showcase for the Williams Women's track and field team. Eph head coach
Nate Hoey reflected on the meet, stating, "Today was a strong start to the weekend of competition. I'm really proud of the positive, supportive energy we brought and how we executed and competed throughout the day." The weekend of competition continues tomorrow, as a second group of Ephs will travel to the Harvard Invitational. This meet will feature Williams jumpers, throwers, distance runners, and select sprinters. Looking ahead, the team will return to training next weekend, continuing to build momentum for the rest of the season.
