CAMBRIDGE, MA — The Williams Women's Track and Field team delivered another strong performance this weekend at the Harvard Invitational Meet, where the Ephs were primarily represented in the field events and long-distance races, with only a select number of sprinters. The team saw multiple standout performances, including a new all-time top-10 mark in the 60m, personal bests, and several Division III New England Championship qualifying marks.
In the 60m dash,
Rachel Arthur ran a blazing 7.63 seconds, setting a new personal record and recording the second-fastest time on the Williams all-time top-10 list. The 200m saw Rachel secure a podium finish, placing third with a time of 25.26 seconds.
Kelsey Tarby followed with a strong performance of 26.49 seconds and
Olivia LaBelle clocked 27.44 seconds to round out the event for the Ephs.
In the 400m,
Daisy Valle and
Annika Paluska represented Williams, with Paluska finishing 8th in 58.84 seconds, earning a qualifying spot for DIII New Englands. The mid-distance events saw
Greta Vaughn and
Kate Tuttle competing in the 800m, with Tuttle finishing 10th in 2:15.99 minutes. Freshman
Lily Yampolsky ran a strong 2:59.76 minutes in the 1000m, securing a DIII New England qualifying mark.
The mile race saw a deep Williams lineup, with
Clara Gahm,
Mirembe Mubanda,
Grace Kaercher, and
Mariem Sayahi all competing.
Julia Brennan had a stellar race in the 3000m, finishing in second place with a time of 10:28.07 minutes, securing DIII New England's qualifying marks and followed closely by
Hannah Prokup with a time of 10:32.61 minutes.
Tamar Byl-Brann dominated the 5000m, winning the race in 17:36.33 minutes and securing her place at DIII New Englands.
The Ephs also excelled in the field events. Amelia Jamanka placed third in the high jump, clearing 1.57m to earn a DIII New England's spot.
Jae Yu finished third in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.58m, followed by
Ellie Fitzgerald (3.43m) and
Poppy Miller (3.28m).
Kelsey Tarby placed second in the long jump with a season-best 5.16m, also earning a trip to DIII New Englands. In the triple jump, Rafaela Delgado and
Mireya King both secured qualifying marks for the DIII New Englands championship meet.
The throws also saw strong performances from the Ephs. Freshman Maria Farreti finished third in the shot put with a throw of 11.86m and followed up with another impressive performance in the weight throw, where she launched 14.89m.
Chloe Schneeberg also shined in the weight throw, finishing with a best mark of 14.42m, as both athletes secured DIII New England's qualifications.
Looking ahead, a small group of Ephs now set their sights on the Tufts Multi Meet in Medford, MA, next weekend, where the team's pentathletes will compete for spots at the Division III New England Championships.
