PHOENIX, AZ -- The Williams College baseball team banged out 21 hits Monday en route to a come-from-behind 15-5 win over Thomas College.
The Ephs improved to 9-2 overall. They will play Oberlin College in a doubleheader Tuesday.
Eight different Ephs had multiple hits in the victory, but trailed Thomas 4-2 after five innings. Adam Marske led off the innings with a single and Darren Hartwell followed with another single. Stephen Maier singled home a run, and James Allison followed suit, tying the game.After two outs and a walk.Taylor Mondshein ripped a bases-clearing, three-run double down the right-field line. K.C. Murphy then doubled Mondshein home for an 8-4 lead.
Mondshein finished 2 for 5 with four RBI. Maier was 3 for 6 with run-scoring singles in the second and sixth innings and he scored twice. James Allison went 3 for 7 with two doubles and three RBI. Cameron Susk was 3 for 6.
First-year Marco Hernandez hit 2 for 3 with two walks. Murphy was 2 for 5 with two doubles. Marske was 2 for 5 and Hartwell for 5 with a walk.
Ben Oliva got the start and lasted 4 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and four runs, three earned. He walked four and struck out two. Pat Blizzard picked up the win in relief, going 1 2/3 and allowing two hits and three walks. He gave up one unearned run.
Senior Dan Marcet was the most effective pitcher of the day, retiring all five batters he faced in 1 2/3 innings. He fanned one batter. Charlie Baxter hurled an inning of relief, walking two and striking out two.
