Bennington, VT. --- Freshman pitcher Dylan Griswold tossed 6 scoreless innings earning the win, as the Ephs of Williams College (10-15) downed Southern Vermont College (7-25), 11-2. The Ephs played full-proof defense without any errors in the win. "Our whole lineup, top to bottom, hit the ball consistently today," stated a pleased coach Barrale after the win.
Junior Chance Rueger highlighted the Ephs offensive attack as he went 4 for 5 in the win at the catcher position. Juniors Taylor Mondshein, KC Murphy, and Darren Hartwell also hit the ball well today with multiple hits each for the Ephs.
The score was 4-0, Williams, after the fourth inning and they did not score again until the sixth, adding two. The Mountaineers added two in the seventh against senior reliever/outfielder Ben Oliva. Junior Lucas Casso closed the game with a scoreless ninth inning.
The Ephs contributed two more runs in the sixth and eighth while adding a final three in the top of the ninth, to finish the game with an 11-2 non-conference win.
The Ephs (10-15, 4-5 NESCAC East) found themselves back in the win column this evening and look to play again with a double header on Saturday, at home, against Tufts University (15-8, 4-5 NESCAC East).
